A widely respected corrections leader with 27 years of operational excellence and executive experience, Doug joins SPC to accelerate our mission of advancing human-centered, performance-based reform across state, federal, and private facility operations.
In his new role, Doug will lead strategic expansion efforts, build mission-aligned partnerships with government agencies and community organizations, and scale SPC’s footprint nationwide. His appointment marks a pivotal step forward as SPC continues to challenge traditional correctional models through data-driven strategies, transformational programming, and evidence-based reentry initiatives.
A Career Defined by Impact and Innovation
Doug brings a distinguished track record of executive leadership to SPC. Throughout his 27-year career, he has managed complex, state-partnered facilities housing diverse populations, including serving as Warden at major institutions such as the Lake Erie Correctional Institution (LaECI) and the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center (NEOCC). His work has spanned collaborations with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and state and local agencies nationwide.
Throughout his tenure, Doug demonstrated that prioritizing human dignity, education, and staff culture directly drives operational stability and safety. Under his leadership, facilities saw significant reductions in violent incidents alongside groundbreaking rehabilitation milestones—including the establishment of the nation’s first certified culinary arts program for incarcerated individuals and large-scale community outreach initiatives.
Doug’s extraordinary contributions earned him widespread industry recognition. In 2022, he was named Ohio Warden of the Year by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC). In 2023, he received national acclaim when the North American Association of Wardens and Superintendents (NAAWS) named him North American Warden of the Year—marking the first time a warden of a privately operated facility earned the national nomination via a state partner.

Following his retirement from institutional operations, Doug transitioned into correctional consulting and public advocacy, partnering with forward-thinking organizations like The Last Mile to break the cycle of recidivism through technology, education, and career pathways.
